Sheepa Miah reviews a new vegan lifestyle festival in East London running throughout the whole of August.
From vegan cocktails, to vegan fried chicken, it’s a series of events not to be missed. The capital’s one of a kind lifestyle event is anticipated to bring in over 2000 visitors to The Old Truman Brewery. Expect food, drinks, music and events.
I had the pleasure of attending the V For launch party. I was intrigued when I heard that V For offers a positive platform for vegans, vegetarians and the V curious. This space has been growing for years and I’m certainly curious, so this was the perfect opportunity to find out what the latest tastes and trends are.
I was surprised to see how big and open the space was and the number of people attending the opening night. I had my eye on all the food stalls and walked around to narrow down what I wanted to eat. It was soon obvious that there would be some serious queuing involved. But with a DJ playing some funky jams, and chilled out vibes throughout, everyone looked like they were having a good time.
I decided to go with the Vegan Vice Club, and after queuing for what felt like forever, I finally got to dive into our ‘Peanut Butter BBQ’ vegan burger and the ‘Truffle-Shuffle Deluxe’, a crispy seitan fried ‘chicken’ burger.
I was pleasantly surprised by the dessert offering more than anything. The Nutty Peanut Butter Cheesecake from the Portobello Attic was to die for – smooth, creamy and downright delicious. And with the weather being so incredibly hot and sticky, we treated ourselves to Miiro ice cream to cool down. The Salted Caramel flavour was particularly tasty.
From demonstrations and educational sessions, to fitness events and experiences, V For has all things vegan covered this summer. Featuring adidas Studio LDN, Tim Sheiff’s ETHCS collection, Melody Kane’s ‘No Kane No Gain’ and London’s favourite vegan night market ‘Vegan Nights’.
V For is running from 2nd August for the whole month at The Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, E1 6QR. Find out more at v-for.co.uk.
