Inigo Sushi Handrolls are served from a cubbyhole kiosk and provide a yummy quick fix for passersby near Bank Station.
Australian entrepreneur Jeremy Bliss and Head Chef Terry Edwards (ex French Laundry, Hix, Gavroche) bring the large format sushi concept from Down Under to the City with a tiny takeaway situated across from the Royal Exchange.
More than twice the size of the usual sushi roll and not quite half that of a typical wrap or burrito, these Aussie-style parcels fit snug in the palm and pack a lot of flavour.
Two rolls for an early lunch proved ample until time for my dinner. I had the Spicy Tuna (Ponzu marinated tuna, wasabi peas, baby gem lettuce, pickled daikon and spicy mayo); and the Peking Duck (duck confit, toasted peanuts, spring onions, cucumber and hoisin sauce). Both were tastier than anticipated. I especially enjoyed the tuna.
Inigo sources its fish from East London’s H. Forman & Son. Coffee comes from Caravan Coffee. Pastries and sweets are from St John’s Bakery. Inigo does miso soup and range of salads too, plus weekly specials.
Prices are nice. One roll costs £3.50. A roll with salad is £6. Two rolls cost £6.50. But when you go be aware this “sushi and coffee joint” accepts card payments only.
Service was exceedingly swift during my visit.
