Travel insurance provider, Staysure, recently conducted a study about airport parking, which offers valuable insight into which airports provide the easiest and cheapest parking.
The study looks at the top 10 UK airports by passenger volume. All of its findings are fascinating. A few go against what you might expect to be the case.
Some of them turn out to be great time and money saving tips, including these handy tidbits:
- The typical cost of local international airport parking;
- Which airport’s car parks are busiest; and
- The amount you can save by pre-booking your parking.
The airports in the study and their approximate annual passenger numbers are as follows:
- London Heathrow (76 million);
- London Gatwick (45 million);
- Manchester (26 million);
- London Stansted (24 million);
- London Luton (15 million);
- Edinburgh (12 million);
- Birmingham (11 million);
- Glasgow (9 million);
- Bristol (8 million); and
- Belfast International (5 million).
Even though the absolute number of Heathrow passengers exceeds those at even the second or third busiest airports combined, the airport has the lowest percentage of flyers looking for parking in comparison to its passenger volume at 0.83%. In general, airports outside London have three times more passengers looking for parking compared to those in London. The highest percentage of flyers looking for airport parking is at Bristol with 10.78%
