Fancy unlocking your spirit this season? Judith Schrut certainly did, while enjoying the launch event for new brand Two Keys’ awesome mixers.
After much flavourful experimenting, gin enthusiasts James Simpson and Jack Herlihy discovered that tea paired brilliantly with certain spirits. So, Two Keys’ first two mixers were born. Black Tea Mixer is a dark, smoky blend of premium Indian and Sri Lankan teas while Green Tea Mixer is a delicate, light and subtly sweet mix of fine Japanese green teas. Both tea blends are cold brewed, touched with sugar and gently carbonated. I found them equally refreshing but distinctly different from one another, and perfect served over a tall glass of ice and either gin or vodka.
Two Keys’ next two flavours salute that dynamic duo of spirits and real fruit juice. Lemon Mixer is delicious, tasting of zingy Spanish lemons and bright pops of fizz and sugar, but Pink Grapefruit Mixer, made with ripe, bittersweet pink grapefruit, is my personal fave. It’s gorgeous straight up over ice and a fat slice of fresh grapefruit, but truly raises the bar when mixed with gin, vodka, tequila or mezcal.
I also can’t stop cooing over Two Keys’ cool bottle design. Bottles are made from recycled glass and sport playful labels which perfectly showcase Jack and James’ wild and wonderful, mix it up approach. There’s a leopard-spotted rhino, tiger-striped camel, giraffe-spotted gorilla and zebra-striped elephant. Two Keys is proud to support wildlife charities in India, Sri Lanka and Japan.
