For some people, being stuck several feet underground without air conditioning or any shred of personal space is not the most enjoyable way to spend the morning. For others, being on the London Underground is blissful because it’s one of the few places left where it’s possible to switch off from the rest of the world as there’s no way for people from the outside getting in contact.

That’s all changing though. Transport for London is rolling out 4G mobile connections to the underground tunnels of the tube network. Regular commuters and visitors have been confused and frustrated by the lack of connectivity for decades, particularly since other major international cities have had WiFi or mobile data installed on their metro systems for years.

Now that you can access the internet from underneath London’s clay, what exciting things can you do?

Video Streaming

Want to continue your binge-watching during your morning commute? No problem. Just open the Netflix, Amazon Prime, or another streaming app on your smartphone and carry on watching your new favourite show.

Now you can follow the adventures of Clarkson, Hammond, and May by watching The Grand Tour on your way to meet friends or stream the latest episode of The Crown when heading to your next meeting.

Just remember to use headphones, you might love the show, but others won’t appreciate it.

Play Online Games

For years, people have played mobile games on the London Underground. No matter what train you get on, you’ll almost definitely find at least one person playing Candy Crush.

Having internet access means you can take your gaming to the next level while you head home after work. Now you can take part in battle royales on Call of Duty: Mobile or Fornite, or play roulette and blackjack in one of the highly rated online casinos listed on the oddschecker website.

Again, headphones are important here. No one wants to listen to your game’s sound effects and eerie music.

Get Ahead of Your Emails

For most people, the first thing they do at the office is to check their emails. Since the average office worker sends and receives more than 90 emails every day, this can take up a good chunk of our workdays.

Now that there’s 4G underground, you can read and reply to emails on our journey into the office. Meaning you can get busy with the important tasks (or make your breakfast) as soon as you arrive.Photo
