Through the ‘resolution’ writing process that I kicked off last month, I realised that I already have strategies for embracing serendipity and appreciating the good in my life. I recalled how I once applied those strategies to writing. I’m glad I remembered these ‘tricks’ and that I’m applying them to both my current writing and other life in general.
But I can feel the motivation flagging. 2023 is now routine and much of my time is spent dealing with the same sort of rigamarole as before. Blogging is just another item on my to-do list. Writing with regularity is a task.
So often, this is how it goes with resolutions. You hit the proverbial wall. You question the point of the goal. You let distractions get in the way.
And when I say ‘you’ I really mean ‘me’.
As I described in the first post of this series, writing and publishing online content used to be a big part of my life and was so for several years. Then I got stuck in the rut of doing it, and the inspiration faded. Now I’m trying to get back into the habit and wonder if I can somehow avoid that loss of motivation and inspiration or successfully plow through what’s blocking my initiative. Whatever the case, I need to remember that persistence improves skill.
My resolution is to blog regularly again so I don’t lose my voice or writing skills. So far so good – I hope that will remain the case.
