Luxury hotel weekend brunching in London just got a lot more luxuriously brunch-y with a new farm-to-table Sunday offering at The Langham London hotel’s Roux at The Landau fine dining restaurant.
Launched at the beginning of this month, the Roux Farmhouse Brunch sees Roux at The Landau transformed into a “luxury barn” with farmhouse tables adorned with herbs, floral arrangements, and wicker baskets filled of seasonal produce. I stopped by this past Sunday for an especially satisfying foodie foray. I loved what I saw and was pleased even more by the spread of gorgeous things to eat.
Head Chef of Roux at the Landau, Oliver Boon, and Executive Chef of The Langham, London, Chris King have done a bang-up job sourcing seasonal and largely regional ingredients to provide guests with a relaxed dining experience for enjoying the splendour and great tasting dishes for which Roux is so well known. Quantity and quality of choice at the buffet tables overwhelmed with access to unlimited servings of Forman’s “London Cure” smoked salmon, Cornish oysters, Wye Valley asparagus, morel and Gruyere quiche, Devilled Burford Brown eggs, pâté croûte Richelieu and much, much more.
Carved at the table on a trolley, my main course of exceptionally tender roasted Somerset lamb with sides of gratin dauphinoise and cabbage was equally stupendous in presentation and flavour. Dessert time brought me back to the buffet for all sorts of delectable treats. Best bits were epic crème brûlée, lemon meringue pie, and the most epic of strawberry triffles I’ve yet to encounter.
Service was prompt and polite. If you’ve never seen Roux’s circular dining room, it’s one of London’s most elegant places to eat in public. Everything about the brunch was dreamy.
Roux Farmhouse Brunch is available between 11.30am and 3pm every Sunday, accompanied by live music (it was classical guitar during my visit). The three course Brunch is priced £49 (including coffee and tea) and £75 for three courses with free flowing Champagne or Bloody Marys.
Roux at The Landau is located at The Langham, 1C Portland Place, W1B 1JA. Find out more at rouxatthelandau.com.
