Planning to get hitched and want to do it up big city style? London’s an awesome setting for just about any occasion. Weddings not excluded.
You’ve got a lot of options with respect to your search for “wedding venues London”. From doing it in the middle of the road (like in the photo above which I took outside my flat a couple of years ago – the commotion pulled outside and I was blown away to discover myself suddenly in the midst of a full on wedding party) to, say, Westminster Abbey (well, you might need to have a few royal connections for that one).
Of course this town is full of historic churches, iconic architectural marvels, spots with stunning views, world class hotels, arty places, foodie places … etc. You name it – it’s probably here and if you can afford it you can have it for awhile. From what I’ve gathered as a wedding guest, casual observer and even a few times as the wedding photographer, the one key aspect to sorting out where to have your London wedding is securing your venue ASAP.
There seems to be a lot of competition to get in just about anywhere these days. I’ve known people who’ve had to put off their big day for months in order to wed at their preferred venue … or have had to go for a winter wedding or weekday (when they’d have preferred a spring or early summer weekend) or had to compromise in some way.
Whatever your preference or budget, there’s bound to be somewhere in this ancient and sprawling metropolis that suits your needs. I’ve attended elegant and tasteful ceremonies and receptions at town halls and local pubs. I think what’s most important is finding the kind of venue that celebrates the couple’s personalities and relationship and reminds guests why they’re there in the first place.
