I dropped by the new(ish) Pho outlet in Islington a couple of weeks back for a fun and friendly cocktail reception featuring Son Tinh spirits. Pho restaurants are the places in the UK to import and serve the Vietnamese liquors. Yummy stuff.
The One, world’s first British blended whiskey
Bringing together a range of whiskies from across the British Isles, The One is the inaugural product from The Lakes Distillery – the first whisky distillery in Cumbrian (yes that’s in England) in over a century. Yep, I had a taste. With a hint of spice and a bit of smoke and complexity, I liked it too and reckon it’s well worth seeking out if you’re a fan of blended whiskies.
Casillero del Diablo’s Devil’s Collection and Wine Legend Movie
Have you seen this slick ad promoting the launch of Casillero del Diablo’s Devil’s Collection? It’s fun to watch. But is are the wines any good? Oh yeah! At a recent launch, I especially enjoyed sipping the Devil’s Collection fresh and juicy white – a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc, 25%Chardonnay and 5% Gewürztraminer, and a red blend of 60% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Carmenere. At a recommended retail price of £8.99, it’s a delicious quaff for good value.
Gant Spring/Summer 2014 Preview
I swung by the Gant Showrooms in Knightsbridge last week for a sneak peek at its line of Spring/Summer 2014 menswear. Already a fan, I was impressed with what the brand has in store for the upcoming season. Expect to see a toned down but broad range of colours running through Gant’s perennially fashionable styles of sportswear and casual clothing made to last with quality materials.
