The fine folks from Kikkoman invited yours truly out earlier this week to upscale Japanese restaurant Matsuri St James’s for a soy sauce masterclass taught by Chef Simon Hulstone.
Well known for using soy sauce in a variety of dishes at The Elephant restaurant in Torquay, Hulstone demonstrated how a little can go a long way with soy by demonstrating how to quickly fry up some scallops with fresh tender-stem broccoli and a Kikkoman-based sauce. I really enjoyed the cooking demos and the opportunity to visit Matsuri for a first time. I was especially impressed with the sushi and with the fine dining restaurant’s excellent and evocative décor.
