Wiener Demeanour: Visit Vienna

Wait a second. You’ve never been to Vienna? Wien not!? It’s a terrific city – one of the world’s most beautiful – teeming with culture and plenty of fun things to do.

I’m just back from a recent visit and am keen to share the best bits of my trip with you. So keep an eye out for more posts to come in my Wiener Demeanour miniseries. Until then, take a gander at this list of practicalities to help you make the most of your time in Vienna.

Addison Lee

Ever reliable Addison Lee, London’s largest fleet of minicabs, got me to/from London airports for my short British Airways flights to Vienna. I’ve used the Addison Lee app a number of times before when requiring a car service and have yet to encounter any issues with the service.

Intersprint

On the ground in Vienna, Intersprint limousine and airport service proved a wise choice for safe, quick and polite transfers. I’d be happy to book them again.

Grand Ferdinand

One of Vienna’s newest hotels (if not the newest), Grand Ferdinand opened October 2015. Ideally situated on the Ringstrasse steps from many of Vienna’s most popular attractions and nearby tram and Metro stations, it’s a smart choice for any number of reasons folks might find themselves in town. My room was comfy and super quiet (especially considering the busy road below). I loved breakfast (plenty of fresh fruit, pastries, Alpine dairy products, even Vienna sausages, and more) every morning served at the top floor lounge with great views of the city. There’s a rooftop pool up there as well.
