Creating Your Own Campaign

Whether it is a charity fundraiser, a movement to social awareness about important topics, or if you are promoting a personal cause, creating your own campaign can be a great way to get your message out there.

However, there is process involved in creating a campaign, and it can be a stressful and time-consuming venture. You will need to think of everything from a catchy campaign name to intriguing slogans and thoughtful advertising. If you are looking to put on an event in aid of your campaign or just looking for a way to get your message spread across the globe, here are a few things you should consider when creating in your own campaign.

The Message

You need to clearly think through what the message is that you are trying to convey to people. For example, if you are looking to promote racial tolerance, think about which races and cultures you are trying to advocate; is it a specific relationship between two groups you are trying to bring together, or just tolerance on a widespread level?

Campaign Name

You will need to give your campaign a name which people are likely to remember and promote. Ideally, you will want to keep this to a short number of words; more than five, for example, is not going to be particularly catchy or easily repeatable. Make sure you address the key message in your campaign name; For example, ‘Moms Demand Action’ is a campaign for changes around gun laws, and from the title of their campaign, it is clear who the campaign is targeted towards, whilst still creating intrigue around what cause they are demanding action for.

Appropriate Advertising

If you are running a local campaign, then the best way to promote your cause may be through using a free poster creator to design posters to put up around your local area and raise awareness. Alternatively, if you are looking for national or international recognition, the best way to advertise would likely be over the internet. Social media is a great platform to engage with people, and you can create a page, group or event for people to access. Another way to generate interest is to create a call to action, which requires people to actively respond your campaign in some way, such as sharing it through social media, to get in contact with you personally, or to get involved in an event.

A Website

Creating an easily accessible website is important for people to find out more information about your campaign. You should include an about page which explains the background behind the campaign and what you are trying to achieve, as well as a contact page to allow people to get in touch with you. You could also list different ways for people to actively get involved in the campaign, such as listing events which you are putting on, or giving people advice on how to promote the cause.

Whatever your campaign may be for, make sure that it is specifically tailored to your target market, and clearly addresses what your purpose is, and how people can get involved.
