Chang Sensory Trails to Shoreditch to “deliver the unexpected” through a multi-sensory experience centred around Thai food, art and music taking place 12 May from noon to 10pm at Last Days of Shoreditch.
Here’s a bit more info about the event along with my take on a couple of especially yummy dishes to be served there.
Chang has partnered with eight restaurants (seven Thai and one Thai-Lao) for the one-day only foodie extravaganza:
- 101 Thai Kitchen,
- Bang Bang Soho,
- Lao Café,
- Nipa Thai,
- Patara,
- Rosa’s Thai Café,
- Tawana, and
- Thai Tho.
A signature dish from the head chef of each restaurant will be available to try during the day.
For a taste of what’ll be on offer during the big day, I was invited to Lao Café near Covent Garden to sample two of Chef Saiphin Moore’s dishes for the occasion: classic green papaya salad and nham khao (crispy rice with fermented sausages). Both offered layer upon layer of lasting flavour. The green papaya salad all but kicked my ass with some mega heat! When you’re at the Sensory Trails, be sure to try these treats!
The preview was my first time to dine Lao Café, although I had been meaning and trying to go there since it opened a couple of years back. It’s now high on my list of places to pay a repeat visit.
CST won’t only be about feasting though. There’ll be two bands performing – Soul Strutters and CDD Trio Band – throughout the day, lots of eye candy art to look at and more fun activities to keep your senses ticking into overdrive.
And of course, plenty of Chang beer.
Chang Sensory Trails takes place 12 May from 12pm-10pm at Last Days of Shoreditch, 288 Old Street, EC1V 9LA. See you there?
Word is Chang Sensory Trails will tour other UK cities afterward with stops in Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh. Similar local iterations will be held in Los Angeles and Singapore as well.
