Honi Poke Fenchurch Street

P1170062

Honi Poke has opened its second location in London, this one near Fenchurch Street Station.

Already a fan of Honi’s original Soho site (it’s probably my favourite poke in town), I was glad to hear the new of a more easterly sister outlet – and even more so when I got invited round to for a taste.

I (still) think it’s weird that poke is a thing in London. But it’s good weird. So I’m definitely not complaining. Eating it brings back happy memories of bopping around Hawaii and California. I’m pretty much always in the mood for it. And it’s kind of hard to fuck up.

Indeed, poke’s a pretty easy dish to assemble. But accessing the best quality ingredients is the trick. I reckon that’s the argument for dropping by Honi – and my reason for it being my preferred place for poke in London. Honi uses responsibly sourced and sustainably caught fish. The restaurant’s Octo Poke ( octopus, edamame, kimchi, cucumber, spring onions and kimchi sauce, £10.50) is my go-to. The Ahi Poke (tuna, avocado, edamame, cucumber, red onion, spring onion, nori, sesame seeds and sesame soy sauce, £9.50) is tasty and authentic enough to get a hearty “maholo” from me.

The eatery does Honi Poke Fenchurch Street as well (not to mention a decent miso soup). More mahaloz for that.

The new Honi Poke is located at 4-6 New London Street, EC3R 7NA. Find out more at honipoke.com.
