Witty’s Currywurst | Berlin | Best of the Wurst

Organic currywurst? That’s the offer at Witty’s, the first organic snack bar in Germany.

Family-owned Witty’s Organic Foods has been in operation for a few decades, opening its first snack bar in 2003 where all sausages, sauces and fries are made in-house from organic ingredients.

I paid around €7.50 for currywurst with fries and mayo (regular and herbed). It was the most expensive currywurst meal I had during my week in Berlin but also the tastiest – and still very good value for money. I especially liked Witty’s sauces. Both the curry sauce and the mayo were rich in flavour, not sugary and with no lingering chemical taste of processed food.

Ostensibly nothing more than a fast food kiosk with a few picnic tables, I found service to be especially gracious (and patient considering how little I grasp of the German language) at the outlet I visited.

Next time I’m in Berlin, Witty’s will be top of my list for a quick foodie fix.

The original Witty’s flagship is located at Wittenbergplatz. But I visited the branch at Friedrichstraße 141, 10117 Berlin. There’s a Witty’s outside Schönefeld Airport as well and plans for one at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (slated to open in 2020). Find out more at wittys-berlin.de.
