Lunch at The World’s End Market

A light and flavoursome lunch was enjoyed at one of my favourite Chelsea venues for food and drink: The World’s End Market.

Before I get too deep into writing about what I liked most about my recent visit to World’s End, let me throw out there that I’m hardly the only one who thinks highly of this King’s Road restaurant. It won Best Local Bar at the London Bar and Club Awards 2018 a couple of weeks back. I can vouch for a few fine drinks had there, including one of London’s better Old Fashioneds. Congrats!

As for lunch, it’s a yummy menu offered. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for tasty and healthful afternoon bites. Beef carpaccio with mixed salad and Parmesan dressing (£7.50) was my starter and Chermoula chicken with Israeli couscous (£11.50) was my main. I thought prices were reasonable and portions were decent. Flavour and presentation were top notch. I liked the texture and mouth feel of both dishes, especially the super tender chicken with the pearl-sized couscous.

A pint of “WEM” Pilsner washed down well for the sunny day I dined and paired wonderfully with my main course. Some vanilla and coconut ice cream followed by a double espresso (as good as or better than coffees from any cafes I know of within a short stroll away) rounded out my meal perfectly.

Don’t worry if craving something heartier. The magnificently meaty Jose Gordon’s El Capricho menu is still available during the afternoon.

In line with previous visits to The World’s End Market, service was personable attentive and quick.

The World’s End Market is located at 459 King’s Road, SW10 0LR. Find out more at theworldsendmarket.com.
