Sushi Shop 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Box

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Sushi Shop has partnered with three legendary European street artists to create three distinctive designs for a limited edition 42-piece sushi box.

Perfect for a couple’s night in or as part of a spread of party finger foods, the box features a ‘best of’ assortment of rolls along with three new ones: Carrot Tulip, Pepper Salmon Roll and Teriyaki Chicken Spring.

I picked up a box at the Marylebone Sushi Shop. Made fresh and in a jiffy, it provided a welcome casual dinner for Kemey and I on an otherwise ho-hum mid week night. We appreciated the attractive packaging (good conversation starter) and even more so what was packaged inside.

The three artists teaming up with the French-founded gourmet takeaway group include Nasty, Jay One and Ed Broner.

  • The first partnership is with Nasty, an iconic figure in the Graffity and Street Art movement since 1988. He made his reputation by covering metro trains with colourful frescoes, until the mid-1990s.
  • The second partnership is with Jay One, founding member of the BBC (Bad Boy Crew) group. Jay One is considered to be one of the forerunners of graffiti in Europe. He is a multi-disciplinary artist working in music, video, painting and street art.
  • The third partnership is with Ed Broner, “Bomb Revolution One” or “Brone”, is an artist who began with graffiti and has been involved in painting and photography in Berlin since 2002.

Our box featured the design by Nasty. Colours were vibrant and presented in confident flair, suggesting we were in for a delicious ride. I pleased to report, there was nothing “Nasty” about what was inside the box!

It contained the following morsels:

  • Two carrot tulips;
  • Six pepper salmon rolls;
  • Six chicken teriyaki spring rolls;
  • Two salmon sushi;
  • Two teriyaki salmon sushi;
  • Six tuna maki;
  • Six salmon Philadelphia maki;
  • Six cooked tuna avocado rolls; and
  • Six prawn spring rolls.

Every roll was a treat. We both especially liked the carrot tulips (seared carrot, chives, wakame, cucumber and cream cheese). But I reckon the tuna maki was my fave.

Priced at £39.90, Sushi Shop’s 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Box is available now until the end of the year.

Sushi Shop Marylebone is located at 67-69 Weymouth Street, W1G 8NY. There are four other outlets in London and in nine other countries as well. Find out more at mysushishop.co.uk.
