Kubrick masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey turns 50. To celebrate the cinematic milestone, the Science Museum will host a series of IMAX 15/70mm screenings of this classic science fiction flick.

This will be the first time that the 70mm IMAX print of the landmark motion picture is screened in the UK.

I’m stoked about this. It’s been ages since I’ve watched A Space Odyssey. I’ve only seen it on TV. So catching an IMAX screening promises to big a lush visual experience. I wonder if the story holds after so many years, but there’s something telling me that the overall message might be more relevant now that it was in 1968.

In keeping with the original release of the 2 hour and 29 minute long film, all IMAX screenings will feature a brief interval.

2001: A Space Odyssey runs from Thursday 1 November 2018 at the IMAX Science Museum, Exhibition Road, SW7 2DD. Book tickets and find out more at sciencemuseum.org.uk/2001.
