3 Reasons You Need to Start a Blog Today

Wait a minute! You still don’t have your own blog? What on earth are you waiting for?

I’ve been blogging for 13 years. Running my blog has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Since the outset and continuing on a weekly basis to this very day, something amazing has come my way that simply wouldn’t have without me having a blog to serve as an interface and conduit between me and the world.

Of course, to see even a modicum of success via blogging one needs to be disciplined and aware of what it is people want to read. Still, beyond any other media available today, I believe blogging remains the best way for anyone with a great idea to spread their message on their own terms.

Ready to start your own blog? Here are three key reasons why you should do so today.

Geek Out on What You Love

Do you love dining out … going to the movies … managing your own investment portfolio? Are your successful in your career … a leader in your field … bonafide and proud nerd? There’s a blog for that: your own! If you have a particular passion or expertise, blogging is perfect for sharing your interest with the world.

Zero In or Pan Out

Think of a blog as a telescope or microscope (or both) for you and your audience. With it, you can go big and broad on a theme or narrowly focus on a specific topic. It’s really all up to you and what and how you want to write.

Control Your Content

Similar to the above point, having a blog allows you to write what and how you want. You are literally your own publisher and editor. You can publish your content when you see fit or have the time. You can curate what you want others to see.

Time is of the Essence!

Did I convince you? Getting started is easy enough. You can even do so publishing your posts privately or only sharing with a select group of readers. The best advice I can give is not to put it off. You can always go back and edit your first posts or otherwise modify the look and feel of your blog. What’s more difficult is making up for lost time.

Do you have a new blog? I’d love to check it out! Leave a link in the comments section of this post and I’ll be sure to take a look. Thanks!
