Applebee’s Fish Pop-Up: Seaside at the Southbank

Fish Ahoy! Judith Schrut drops anchor at London’s newest Pop-Up.

Applebee’s loves fresh fish, that’s for sure. And if (like me) you’re already a fan of the light, crispy fish and chips and succulent rock oysters served in Applebee’s popular Borough Market restaurant, then their newly opened summer Pop-Up at London’s Southbank will be excellent news.

As well as superfresh, sustainably sourced fish and chips and Mersea oysters, the Applebee’s crew are serving up some exceptionally tasty panko prawns, melt-in-your-mouth seabass ceviche and tender tuna and salmon tartare.

Barwise, there’s a wide range of craft beers, champagnes, vino, cocktails and artisan soft drinks. These include Negronis and Aperol spritz for traditionalists, oyster shots for the adventurous and English sparkling wines for the patriotic. All this beneath a spacious pergola complete with kitchen, oyster bar, picnic tables, deck chairs, music stage and games sandpit ready for a game of boules. I promise it won’t be long before those commuter trains rumbling overhead on Hungerford Bridge start sounding like ocean waves.
