Four Easy Ways To Stick To Your New Year’s Resolutions

It’s always hard to feel at our best in January and February. We’re back at work, the weather is miserable, and we’re re-adjusting to life after coming off all the endless snacks and treats of the holiday season.

During that first month of the year, it’s tempting to just hide under the duvet and wait for it to go away, and pretend that we didn’t make that list of things we were going to do this year.

But the good news is that we’re done with January, and with the first month of 2021 very much in our rear-views, it’s time to look forward and start to settle into a routine that will help us to keep putting our best foot forward.

Get A Routine Going

One of the biggest reasons why we don’t stick to the resolutions we make at the start of the year is that we don’t go about them in the right way. We tend to charge headlong into these plans that we’ve made for being healthier and living better, but if we don’t make sure to pace ourselves and to have a clear structure, then the chances are that we just won’t stick to them.

Now, a routine can be as simple as saying that you’re going to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, something that will help to make sure you’re getting the right amount of sleep. If you’re wanting to get fit (more on that later), try to make sure that you have a set time for exercise, or at least an amount that you want to do every day. If you’re trying to cut out snacks, having a set meal time can help you to avoid those late dinners and as well as allowing you to share time with others.

Don’t Skimp on Pampering

Right now, it feels like we’re all just moving from one essential task to the next. When we’re so focused on just getting everything done and making sure that everyone in our family is getting what they need, some of the little things just fly out of the window. But it’s so important that we remember to look after ourselves right now, and the little things we do to make ourselves feel like we’re looking our best are the kind of thing that can help you feel that little bit stronger as we face the day.

So, while we are certainly not here to tell you that you shouldn’t work in your pyjamas if that’s helping, try to make sure that there is a clear line between your relaxing gear and what you wear to face the world. Treat yourself to some nice hair and skin care products. Make those nice dinners feel special with a little spritz of perfume. And, while we’re all waiting for non-essential trips to the dentist to come back into our lives, think about treating yourself to some dental whitestrips to give your smile its sparkle. Crest Whitening Strips offer daily cleansing and whitening, and at EuroWhite you can learn more about why they have become so popular.

Start Your Fitness Regimen Slowly

We know, when you’re working from home it can somehow be harder to find time in the day when you can get some exercise in, but getting that heart rate up is not just good for your body, it’s good for your mind too. If it’s too difficult to get out for a run every day, even a brisk walk can help get that blood circulating and help you to mentally detach from all the pressures of the day.

If leaving the house is only causing more stress, then why not start a home fitness programme? There are home workouts that only take 15 minutes that can help you get on the right track. And for all of us who are spending far too long hunched over our computers, a yoga session at the end of the day helps to stretch out those muscles and relax through the evening.

Be Kind To Yourself

We are all under a great deal of pressure right now, and all of us who are juggling family commitments might start to feel things weighing down on them. If you’re struggling to get going and put your best foot forward, remember that the present situation is spectacularly difficult. Remember to forgive yourself if you find that you’re not meeting every single goal for every single day. Make sure you find some time in your family’s routine that is just for you, even if it’s just a quiet cup of tea by yourself. We have all got to know our mental health better over the last year, and being kind to yourself is one of the best things you can do.
