Like most guys, I’ve received more than my fair share of well intentioned gifts over the years that just didn’t do it for me. The idea for the Manly Man Company came to founder Greg Murray after a simple conversation with his wife Jacquie. Greg had recently bought a bouquet of flowers for Jacquie and wondered, “Why isn’t there a gift for men that’s equivalent to flowers?” Sure, you can buy flowers for guys. Plenty of men might say they appreciate the sentiment but if they were being honest would tell you they would have wanted something else.
Greg and Jacquie reckoned that, much of the time, a bouquet of beef jerky might be a fella’s preferred stand-in for flowers. Soon after having this revelation, Jacquie surprised Greg with the very first iteration of what is now called “Man Bouquets”— sticks and sheets of jerky carved in the shape of flowers and roses presented inside a pint glass or beer mug “vase”. Genius.
