Have you tried cotton candy grapes? FYI: for Brits unfamiliar with “cotton candy”, it’s what folks in the US call candy floss.
Despite the name, these treats are not manufactured confections but actual grapes that have been cultivated using age-old breeding techniques to cross-pollinate two high-flavour varieties and create a super sweet and especially juicy fruit. Cotton candy grapes have a bit more natural sugar than regular grapes – and a standout gold-green hue – but still offer plenty of the water, fibre, and vitamins that you would expect from the typical version of this healthy finger food snack.
I’d heard of cotton candy grapes from a friend in the US (he loved them). I even tried some specialty grapes here in the UK that had a very candy-like flavour (and really enjoyed them). They might have been cotton candy grapes. That was a couple of years ago though – and then I don’t think I’ve seen any since.
So when some PR folks emailed about the launch of new 125g snack pots at Tesco, and mentioned they could send me some samples, I thought yeah sure.
The 400g punnet sent did not last long (especially when I shared them with my partner). She loved them too. The grapes were great on their own as a snack while we watched a film as well as for breakfast in a bowl of yoghurt.
Find cotton candy grapes at Tesco in 125g snack pots, 400g punnets and 800g sharing packs. According to tesco.com the day of this post’s publication they’re priced at £2.25, £2.40, and £4.50 respectively.
