Celebrating Edward VII’s Birthday with The King’s Ginger and Berry Bros
The level of kitsch and pretence was nearly as copious as the amount of booze in the cocktails during a recent posthumous birthday lunch for King Edward VII, with The King himself on hand to preside over the merriment. As wackily anachronistic as the celebration was, the setting could not have been more authentic or historically spot on. Of course as is so often the case with too many wonderful experiences, there had to be a hitch. Continue reading

Good Stuff
Bad stuff: I’m missing a close friend’s birthday bash because I’m too ill (hacking cough, nasal congestion, achy joints, general fatigue) to go out and I’m not sure if I’m going to be well enough to participate in a couple of … Continue reading
Wine of the Month: 2010 Sancerre Blanc, André Dezat
Forgive that off colour staining on the label in the above pic, but I was cooking while quaffing and thoroughly enjoying both when a bit of sauce splashed out onto the bottle of this 2010 Sancerre blanc … this crisp, … Continue reading
Wine of the Month: 2010 La Cadène, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Domaine Chaume Arnaud

Wine of the Month: 2008 Macon Bussieres, Le Monsard Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon
Tough times deserve great wine. Now, by no means am I suggesting anyone try to drink his or her problems away or seek solutions at the bottom of a bottle, but a good glass of wine can go a long … Continue reading
Wine of the Month: 2009 Chateau Plantey Canteloup Rosé Bordeaux
Ah yes. Another bank holiday weekend … with lousy weather of course. No worries though. I’m quite content to have a Saturday night in and let the pizza delivery dude brave the rain for me. I’m especially pleased to be … Continue reading
