East Village will host a free cheese and wine festival the weekend of 1 April. No fooling.
The festival will see more than 25 wine, cheese and related traders and exhibitors and will feature exclusive demonstrations led by the likes of wine expert Tim Atkin and Great British Bake Off contestant, Tom Gilliford. The festival will be a chance to admire Brie-oncé as well – a replica made of cheese of the recent and instantly iconic image of a veiled and pregnant Beyoncé posing by food sculptor David Bradley.
I had a slice of the action to come at a preview event at Tina We Salute You (new East Village not original Dalston location) where emphasise of preview leaned heavy on the dairy side of things. I enjoyed a cocktail made with Black Cow’s Pure Milk Vodka, a lot of fondue, and a sweet tooth’s take on rarebit (a la GBBO’s Tom Gilliford). It was my first time to visit Tina’s second site – great space and a good one to keep in mind for all manner of casual eating and drinking.
Dipping in on the cheesy fun, Tina will present a three-course Cheese Feest on Sunday 2 April with a menu created by Feest London and Gilliford. The event will start at 5pm with a pop quiz and Black Cow cocktails. Tickets for the Feest cost £37.42 and can be purchased online at eventbrite.com/e/east-village-cheese-feast-tickets-32799944517.
Tina, We Salute You! Is located at 2 Olympic Park Avenue, East Village, E20 1FT (with another outlet in Dalston). Find out more at tinawesaluteyou.com.
