All Aboard for The Grand Journey with Bombay Sapphire

My Gin of Ten Journeys adventure continues with a tasty train ride exploring the places of origin of all the botanicals that go into Bombay Sapphire premium dry gin.

The Laverstoke Express has arrived in London inviting passengers to climb onboard for an immersive and delicious trip round the world with a stop along the way at every destination where Bombay Sapphire sources its ten botanicals.

The trip is a virtual and multi-sensory one – and a great excuse to enjoy a meal by Michelin Star Chef Tom Sellers, of Restaurant Story fame. Dishes and accompanying cocktails are designed to celebrate the unique botanical blend that gives Bombay Sapphire such crisp and balanced flavour.

I took a ride on the Laverstoke Express last night and had a blast. Best bits were the main course of Iberico pork with roasted pear, fresh almonds, sugared almonds, amaretto jelly and pork sauce (to highlight the almonds from Murcia, Spain in Bombay Sapphire), and the dessert of angelica ice cream with salted blackberry and bitter chocolate (highlighting the German angelica in the gin).

Service was swift, seating was super comfy, and the “show” was a lot of fun.

If you’re a fan of gin and keen to learn more about it and how it can be paired with food, keep this event in mind! And book fast – last night was a sellout and the train rolls on to another station after the weekend.

That’s about it for my series about Bombay Sapphire’s Gin of Ten Journeys. I’ll wrap things up with some closing thoughts in one more post soon.
