At Home and at Ease
This week, I tried out two Urban offerings: Osteopathy Consultation & Treatment on Monday morning and a Thai Massage (with Oil) on Thursday afternoon. Both were in my home, extraordinarily relaxing, and way more therapeutic than I realised I actually required. I’d book both again (and indeed I’m considering doing just that soon).
In each instance, the practitioner arrived on time, brought everything needed (expect for my own towels for my massage) for the appointment and conducted his or herself as a polite guest in my home. The at-home aspect of the service enhanced the feeling of well being for me and extended the relaxing results much longer than if I would have had to hit the streets immediately after the treatment.
I reckon if Urban’s nail and skincare services are as professionally performed, they’re definitely worth looking into as well.
Osteo with Dermott
Monday’s booking was my introduction to osteopathy. Basically, what I got was a head-to-toe assessment of my musculoskeletal system, with a massage treatment followed up with some tips on how to address any issues found. During the treatment, Osteopath Dermott zeroed in with amazing accuracy and efficiency on where my body needed the most attention: around my right shoulder blade. A total pro, Dermott shared with me some great advice on keeping fit while avoiding injury or pain. If you’re looking for a realignment or want to reduce aching from physical labour or long hours of sitting, strongly consider osteopathy.
Prices for osteopathic consultation and treatment start at £84.
Thai with Saleta
Unlike with osteo, I’m no stranger to a good Thai massage. I’ve enjoyed a number of them over the years. So it’s hardly small talk to say this one was one of the best I’ve ever had and by far the best I’ve experienced in recent memory. Therapist Saleta was super friendly and acutely attuned to what I required most from a massage. Based on what I learned from my time with Dermot, I was able to direct Saleta to focus on my upper back. And thanks to the yoga classes I attend at my nearby fitness centre, I knew all too well how much my hamstrings could do with some attention as well. Saleta took note and care for an especially restorative massage. Wow! I needed that.
Deja Vu
Any tikichris old timers reading this? Then you might remember I covered Urban when the brand launched in 2014. Back then, Urban only offered a limited range of massages. It was good then but is now better with its broader range. I think prices are lower too! I was pleased to pick up where I left off with Urban and to discover Urban has evolved with the times. The Urban app is particularly impressive and easy to navigate.
