Back | 2023 Resolution

Hey folks. I’m back after a few weeks hiatus from my 2023 Resolution.

For part of that time off, I was traveling. Pertaining to my resolution to start blogging regularly again, my trip served to whet my appetite to continue blogging, reminded me why I used to get so much pleasure of doing it regularly, and even rekindled my love of travel writing.

Have a scroll through the blog and you’ll see I recently started a series called Tracking the Lion Man. It’s about my trip. New ‘Lion Man’ posts should follow soon. I hope you enjoying reading about my experiences.

My break from blogging allowed me a chance to consider how well I’ve done keeping my resolution. Having several days ‘off’ to think about the key takeaways that I listed in my last post proved useful.

Here’s that list again:

  • Gain perspective and confidence by regularly doing something you love and sharing it with the world;
  • Accept that it’s okay to be less than exceptional every now and again;
  • Be open to inspiration. It often finds us in the most unexpected of places;
  • Remember the necessity of adapting;
  • Be willing to adapt to new ideas and inspiration and accept the potential of the unexpected and the unknown;
  • Perspective is key to a positive attitude;
  • Persistence improves skill;
  • Maintain momentum by keeping track of the good stuff and setting aside enough time to reflect;
  • The key to overcoming inertia is to keep at it. Habits take time to form;
  • Deal with inertia when it strikes so you can get on with what you most want to do;
  • Create space for the things that matter so you stay focused on achieving your goals.

And the one big idea I come away with when thinking about all those key takeaways is to remember is the following. Yes, progress requires determination and persistence, but more so it requires patience. Paradoxically, once I realised that time restraints no longer seemed to be much of an issue and I made far better progress a lot faster than I would have imagined. Nice.

Stay tuned for more updates. Thank you for following along on my journey.
