Oops! | 2023 Resolution

In the last post for my 2023 Resolution series, I started envisioning the rest of year – and then nothing! It’s been nearly two months since then without any followup or much activity at all on this blog. Time’s slipped away from me. Oops!

Even though I haven’t done much blogging or added any resolution updates in a while, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking about this blog and my resolve to do more with it. It’s been on my mind a lot actually.

This summer has been active with lots of work-related stuff demanding my attention and plenty of fun pulling me out of my day-in-day-out routine. I also have been delving into a few creative endeavours beyond this blog and have found those experiences especially rewarding. These aren’t excuses for my lack of blogging but are good reasons why I haven’t been posting at the same frequency as earlier this year.

June, July and August have been an opportunity for me to take a break from writing while  also building up and thoughtfully considering ideas worth blogging about. I’m not sure I needed a break from blogging, but I’m glad I’ve taken it.

I don’t want motivation to wane or inertia to set in, but I don’t want to fall into the rut of only writing at the expense of other important things.

Blogging regularly remains the goal. Writing regularly for the sake of practice is key to that. However, publishing content for the sake of doing so is something I want to avoid. Not allowing downtime for adequate reflection might be even detrimental to quality writing.

Quantity at the cost of quality results in junk.

As the year progresses, I remain committed to achieving balance between consistent writing and meaningful reflection while staying open to chances to hone and express my creativity.

More to come!
