Harden’s 2010 Restaurant Guide, Londonist, and YOU! (Londonist)
Yes, I usually just post references to my work on Londonist, but this time I really want to get the word out about this special Londonist/Harden’s Restaurant Guide offer. Check it out and please help!
Harden’s 2010 Restaurant Guide, Londonist, and YOU!
Londonist, April 22, 2009 12:30 PM
Back in the beginning of March, when we sat down to interview Peter Harden (one half of the mastermind brothers behind the ever resourceful Harden’s restaurant guides), we had no idea what kind of fruitful seeds we were sowing.
Now a little over a month later, we’re teaming up with the Hardens to help spread the word about their 19th annual restaurant survey. As you probably already know (or at least definitely should!), all of the survey participants will receive a complimentary copy of the Harden’s 2010 Restaurant Guide, containing the results from the survey.
Got a favourite eatery you’d like to rave about or one you’d prefer to rant out of commission? Tired of having to wait too long for your bill or know a waiter that deserves a little anonymous praise? Participating in the Harden’s survey doesn’t just land you a free book but gives you the chance to weigh in with your opinions about the state of London’s dining scene.
And the cool thing is (oh yes it gets even better!), if you join in the survey via this special link, there’s a chance to get your very own “Londonist-branded edition” of the Harden’s Guide. All that’s gotta be done is to generate more than 500 complete responses via our site. Completed responses means contributing more than five reviews. Here’s that link again:
http://www.hardens.com/londonist
We know you want to do this. Please (we’d love to own a few copies of this Londonist-branded copy ourselves).

Whisky, Cake and the William Blake (Qype does London)
Whiskey, Cake and the William Blake
Qype does London, April 21st 2009
The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.
– William Blake
I reckon there’s a heap of truth in the above statement. But what good ole Billy B failed to mention is that taking a stroll down such a scenic highway pretty much guarantees a visit from the mother of all hangovers – banging on your palace door over and over and over again. Last night I hosted a whiskey and cake pairing for Qype and boy, do I feel like an exceptionally wise sonuvabitch this morning. Oh my aching head.
But hey, I gotta admit, it was worth this morning’s price …

Guinness 250 Pint Glass
I’ve been meaning (for a ridiculously long time) to write a simple thank you post to Guinness for thinking of lil ole me and sending me my very own personalized Guiness pint glass in honour of their 250th birthday. Not quite as splendiferous as when they delivered all that free beer to me, but hey a cool freebies a cool freebie, right?
Anyway, while I’m counting my blessings, I suppose I should also thank the friendly peeps at Splendid Communications for setting up the contact and to networking mastermind Andy Bargery for the hook up at the London Bloggers Meetup he organized waaaaay back in March.
THANKS!

Friendly Folks and a Fun Night Out in Soho (Alcoholic Architecture and OpenSoho) (Qype does London)
Friendly Folks and a Fun Night Out in Soho (Alcoholic Architecture and OpenSoho)
Qype does London, April 17th 2009
… gimmicks and swish digs aside, we all know what makes a good time so good: the people … and with respect to that, last night was truly something special. For starters, fellow Qyper Timinator came along to partake in the cocktail inhalation (as if I had to twist his arm). Fellow Londonista and foodie friend, Browners, was there too. At OpenSoho, another Qype buddy Dave was mingling like a pro along with plenty more friendly folks such as Miriam from Smarta and Diane and Fabio from ilikeucoz (in fact …

Review: Bompas & Parr’s Alcoholic Architecture
Londonist, April 17, 2009 10:17 AM
Donning special protective suits to spare our clothes from the boozy mist (ah, boozy mist), we ambled in, snatched up our complimentary (liquid-form) G&T and headed into the walk-in cocktail room. We could hardly see for all the mist but could certainly taste the “drink” on our tongues with each inhalation. We reckon our session lasted about 40 minutes or so with most of that time spent giggling at and gabbing about the preposterous fun we were having.

Hot damn! Jennifer Klinec’s yeast-risen doughnuts (you know, the deep fried “Krispy Kreme style” diet destroyers) brought a tear of sheer gluttonous wonder to our eyes last time we met up with this phenomenal “new-school cooking” expert. Not one for the calorie counters, but …
