New and Stylish Indian Restaurant, Zeen, Opens on Drummond Street (Londonist)
New and Stylish Indian Restaurant, Zeen, Opens on Drummond Street
Londonist, March 4, 2009 10:02 AM
Londonist indulged in a bit of a feast last night at newly opened Indian restaurant, Zeen. Located at 30 Drummond Street, NW1 2PA, Zeen is an impressive addition to a street already renowned for its curry houses. Open for a little over a month, Zeen’s founder Zeenat Harnal believes it is now time to “shout about” her restaurant. Indeed, as we discovered on our visit, there’s plenty of reasons to speak up about this chic (and most importantly!) delicious restaurant.

Mr. T Hits London! (Qype does London)
Mr. T Hits London!
Qype does London, March 2nd 2009
Of course, there were a few other celebs milling about and some fun stunt fighting lessons. Plenty of canapés and drinks too (and, of course, Snickers candy bars – my favourite candy from childhood honestly). However, it was obvious that the real draw was indeed Mr. T and Mr. T alone.

Immortalized in the title of the last album released by the Beatles before dissolving in 1970, Abbey Road is an otherwise quiet and rather nondescript residential street in the North London district of St John’s Wood.

“Crunch Munch” Lunch Special at the Water Poet Pub
“Crunch Munch” Lunch Special at the Water Poet Pub
Londonist, February 26, 2009 3:12 PM
Just round the corner from the revitalized (and frankly rather homogenized) Spitalfields Market is the Water Poet at 9-11 Folgate Street, E1 4BX. It’s a lovely pub (a very pub-y pub in fact) and, as far as we can tell, a brilliant place to visit whenever folks might find an opportunity (yes, they’re open on Sundays!). At the moment, an especially good time to drop by is Monday through Friday during lunch to sample the Water Poet’s 50 Minute Crunch Munch special. For the time being, diners can enjoy a two course lunch for £9.95 or three courses for £12.95.

Root Ginger: A Study of Red Hair
London Hotels Blog, February 25th, 2009
Red hair is the last bastion of political incorrectness and although you cannot compare it wholly with the treatment of other mintority groups I think it does illustrate how some members of society act towards people who simply look different to them … Red hair conjures up a plethora of …

Shoot Experience Photojournalism Workshop: Day One
Saturday was the first of two sessions in Shoot Experience’s new photojournalism workshop. I really got a lot out of the day and found it a good mix of practice and theory served up in equal parts instruction, open discussion and even some field work.
There was plenty of technical advice and the promise of more to come during our next Saturday class, but what I think I appreciated most was simply being in the company of other photographers (we were only six – including our able instructor!) all keen to learn about being more thoughtful in our craft and improving our visual storytelling abilities.

Reviews Revisited: Luardo’s Mexican Street Food

Back in July 2007 (yes way back then) we happened upon upstart Mexican street food vendor, Luardo’s, at the then rather puny Whitecross Street Market. Our review was positive, if not glowing. Anyway, we’ve been back recently (had the beef in chipotle sauce burrito) and are happy to report that Luardo and crew seem to have upped their game and are slingin’ beans in a manner well worth shouting about.

New Shoot Experience Photojournalism Workshop
I got so much out of my sit-in at the Shoot Experience Street Photography & Camera Handling workshop back in November that I’m heading back this Saturday (as well as the 7th of March) to see what I can glean from their new photojournalism workshop. The workshop, taught by Grace Pattison (a photographer and web editor with an MA in Photojournalism), is geared toward photographers keen to “make their images stand out from the rest” and will offer “essential skills needed to combine the structural elements and techniques that heighten the impact of stories with the use of images and multimedia.” Just the kind of useful information that I crave!
Of course, I’ll be sure to let y’all know how it goes!
