How to Maintain a Positive Mindset While Working from Home

There was once a time when working from home was full of exciting and positive connotations. For many, it was seen as a career goal. No more office politics, or managers watching your every move, instead, just a little more freedom and flexibility and the chance to earn a great salary whilst in the comfort of your own home.

Sadly, many people are coming to realise that working from home in this current climate is anything but freedom and flexible working. It’s never been harder to separate our working lives from our professional ones, and if you’re currently working from home exclusively due to the pandemic, then that sense of feeling trapped in your own workspace is overwhelming, to say the least.

Feel Good: Four Ways to Increase Your Self Confidence

Having self-confidence is something that a lot of people lack, which is sad because we should all learn to love ourselves unconditionally. It is easy to beat yourself up over small things and compare yourself to others, but we should try and appreciate the fact that we are all different and unique, so comparing ourselves is counterproductive.

Four Easy Ways To Stick To Your New Year’s Resolutions

It’s always hard to feel at our best in January and February. We’re back at work, the weather is miserable, and we’re re-adjusting to life after coming off all the endless snacks and treats of the holiday season.

During that first month of the year, it’s tempting to just hide under the duvet and wait for it to go away, and pretend that we didn’t make that list of things we were going to do this year.

But the good news is that we’re done with January, and with the first month of 2021 very much in our rear-views, it’s time to look forward and start to settle into a routine that will help us to keep putting our best foot forward.

The Most Remote Places on Earth

The Earth is filled with wonder. There are those who live to watch the sunrise on tropical islands and those who are in paradise when they reach the snow-peaked mountain tops. The mysteries that lie beneath the sea and deep in our rain forests are still not fully known, and for every one of these remote places, there are those who are deeply dedicated to learning about them.

As wonderful and exciting as that is, there are places that are so much more unspoiled, and almost untouched by modern man that they might be the most remote travel locations on Earth. Travel to these places lets us see how Earth was when it was in its natural state. What Earth looked like, and, felt like, and smelled like before civilization, pollution, suburbs, and office complexes. Travel to a place where the effort to get there makes it unique in this day of instant gratification.

Cooped Up? Comporta!

Feeling cooped up? You’re not alone (well maybe you actually are alone and that’s part of the reason you feel the way you do, but you know know what I mean). Everybody’s longing to spread out, explore, and enjoy a change of scenery.

I’m certainly no different. My travel yearnings have struck especially hard over these past few weeks. Christmas is done, winter gloom lingers, and daily life is more humdrum than usual. Obviously, Covid-19 has put one hell of a damper on the prospect of pursuing all sorts of activities that normally would help me kick the January blues.

What Makes You Achoo?

Winter is here with spring on the way. For a lot of folks, such a thought presents a glimmer of hope, the chance to shake off the cold weather shackles and spend more time outside breathing fresh air. For others though, the very notion of spring and early summer reminds them about a mega sneeze-fest on the way!

Whenever the season – and whatever the reason – allergies take the fun out of life. In some cases they get in the way of work and other obligations. Even worse is when you don’t even know what’s triggering your allergic reaction and causing you to feel so icky.

Of course, for some an allergic reaction can be a life or death situation. And that’s definitely nothing to sneeze at!

Dreaming of Veganuary? Or maybe you’re simple looking to change up your London dining routine and find some alternative eats in the new year? See if this ‘meat lover’s guide’ to vegan burgers helps you find what you’re taste buds seek.

I’m not against eating meat. I am becoming increasingly against eating too much of it or eating meat just to eat meat when there are healthier and tastier options. So … vegan burgers. Most make me say meh, but some – such as the ones listed below – have me mumbling oh yeah when I’m munching on them.

Favourite London Restaurants and Takeaways of 2020

What a year! I managed to eat well, and I hope you did too.

Most of my meals came a la me this year, which is something that turned out to be more of a blessing than a curse. I’ve never cooked so much for myself before, or enjoyed cooking so much at all. Of course, I caved in to cravings and convenience with takeaways and deliveries on a fairly regular basis. I usually did so to treat myself, but at the height of the spring-summer lockdown I sometimes did so just to break the monotony of daily life.

The restaurants and takeaways I cherished most this year are listed below. They’re mostly in Walthamstow (indeed mostly on Hoe Street).

Rules for the Dedicated Freelancer

Becoming a freelancer allows you to cast off the rules that come with working for someone else. While you will still need to stay legally compliant, you may now also be able to choose when you work, what you wear, and what you do.

While this freedom can be appealing, it is important that you do create your own rules and company code which you intend to abide by. This can help you to stay focused and motivated with your tasks, and keep both work and paperwork up to scratch.

Why Online Bingo is So Fun

Bingo has been a social game that’s been played for at the very least a century within town halls, leisure centers and everywhere far between. It’s a simple game to get involved with – scratch off the numbers on your card when the host reads it out – however, this basic game mechanic is what makes bingo so fun and exciting in a similar way to how the lottery is.

With the growth of digital media and particularly the internet, bingo players have moved in swatches from their bingo halls to online bingo sites to play their games and continue the fun on their laptops, mobile phones or tablets. If you’re new to bingo and are curious to try it out, here are a few reasons why it’s so much fun.

This year, I haven’t spent nearly as much time posting on this blog as I have in the past. More so, I really haven’t felt the need to share personal stuff on a public platform such as this site to the same extent that I used to.

But something I’ve done every year for Thanksgiving since the early days of tikichris is to publish a Thanksgiving post – a tradition that I’d like to keep going for as long as I have this blog.
