From a crash course in the history and global reach of gin (Gillray’s keeps close to 70 different gins behind the bar) to how to mix a classic cocktail … Continue reading

Invited to Switzerland along with a handful of other London-based bloggers to explore a few Swiss cities using the free to download Make My Switzerland app. Created by actual residents of the cities featured, the app lists hidden gems and places favoured by locals. Vysia reckons the app is great for people who like to venture “off the beaten path” when travelling. “Even better,” she says, the participating bloggers got to meet and explore their chosen cities “with the locals behind the recommendations and see it through their eyes”. Bourbon Tasting Flights and a Steak of the Month at JW Steakhouse, Park Lane

JW Steakhouse at the Marriott’s Grosvenor House hotel has recently introduced a couple of brilliant new reasons to pay this fine dining establishment a visit post-haste: a series of four bourbon tasting flights and a Steak of the Month. Both these offers represent deliciously good news to be sure! However, what is perhaps even more deserving of me shouting about you making speedy beeline to enjoy is the simple fact that, as I discover during my dinner last night, everything else about this American style Steakhouse is fantastic too. Just Back from Tahiti. Whoa!

Hey folks. I’m back in town after a week and a half sailing around French Polynesia’s Leeward Islands. And aside from a couple of hours of choppy sailing and a bout of seasickness that I thought might never end, the trip was truly awesome: eating lots and lots of fresh papaya … swimming around in giant bathtub lagoons off wild coasts of far flung specks of land … spotting dolphins … ogling tikis … taking in all the many different shades of blue … I had a a bona fide blast in the tropical breeze.
