Celebrity Chefs Puck and Ramsay Opening New London Restaurants (CheapOair)
Celebrity Chefs Puck and Ramsay Opening New London Restaurants
CheapOair, September 13, 2011
Two particularly noteworthy restaurants opening this month are Wolfgang Puck’s CUT at 45 Park Lane and Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen. CUT at 45 Park Lane will not only be Puck’s debut in London but his first venue in Europe whereas Bread Street Kitchen will add to Gordon Ramsay’s London portfolio (now with 13 locations) by offering customers a “relaxing” dining venue with an “East London aesthetic” in London’s financial district.

More noted for their sausages, which are by the way fabulous, this review is in praise of the Banger Bros’ five ounce, free range Hereford rump steak burger.

Chinatown. Throw a wanton and you hit a restaurant. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be a good restaurant. Fortunately, the area’s reputation for dining out has improved considerably in recent years with many of today’s eateries offering quality food at decent prices.

Xbox Meet and Greet with Snoop Dogg in Liverpool
Xbox is running a competition to win a meet-and-greet gig experience with Snoop Dogg on his autumn tour in the UK (Echo Arena, Liverpool). The prize includes travel, accommodation along with food and drink. The winner will receive the following:
• Travel to and from Liverpool (Up to a total value of £100)
• Overnight hotel accommodation in Liverpool
• Food and Drink allowance (up to £100)
• 2 x standing tickets to the show on 10 October 2011 (general admission)
• 2 x Individual photos with Snoop Dogg
• 2 x Autographed items
How awesome is that? I’d love the chance to meet Snoop Dogg. And the cool thing is that the comp is actually a lot of fun as well. It involves creating an interactive map plotting your best moments of summer (memories of summer holidays, having fun with friends, stuff like that). Easy peasy right? But you’ve only got until the 23rd of September to enter. So drop it like it’s hot and enter the competition now! Visit the Xbox – Ibiza Memories fanpage to get started:
http://apps.facebook.com/xboxibizamemories/
The Snoop Dogg giveaway is the second of Xbox and Ibiza Rocks summer competitions. Their first, an Xbox Best Summer Job offer gave three lucky winners an opportunity to spend six weeks artying with amazing music artists such as Example and Plan B while spreading the Xbox gospel on one of the biggest party islands on the planet. Not a bad way to spend your summer, eh? And the Snoop Dogg meet-and-greet sounds like a brilliant way to usher in the fall.

Good Stuff
I’ve been meaning to start up a new series of posts here on tikichris for a couple of weeks, but general busy-ness (fun and non-fun) has been holding me back. So today, the first in ages with a bit of freetime, I thought I’d commence my “Good Stuff” series – essentially just quick lists of things I’ve come across lately and have really enjoyed but for whatever reason they didn’t make it into their own blog posts on here, my tikichris-to-go Tumblr blog or one of my client’s blogs. The idea is to update weekly. However, in reality I think this is going to be more of a when I can get to it sort of thing. Anyway, here’s what’s been entertaining me over the past few weeks:
Thames Clippers: I took the Clipper from North Greenwich to Westminster. It was a gorgeous afternoon and the views of and from the Thames were magnificent. Comfy, convenient, nicely priced and offering a much more pleasant ride than some of the tourist boats cruising the river, the Thames Clipper is a great way to travel across London.
Japan Centre: I shopped and dined here a couple of times recently. Before that, it’d been several months since visiting. Delicious food (love the tempura at the centre’s Toku restaurant), okay prices and cool Japanese vibe in the heart of London.
Charing Cross Hotel: A blogger event and tour of the hotel led me here. It’s lovely and you can’t beat the location. Just above Charing Cross Station (but nicely soundproofed so you’d never know it until peeking out a window or hitting the streets), I’ve been walking by this place for years without realizing the history and luxury hovering above.
Palm 2: Now that I’m a Hackney homeowner (still haven’t moved into the new place yet), I’m having a great time exploring the area. I’m really amazed by Palm 2. Just a simple, independently owned local grocery but incredibly well stocked with super friendly and helpful staff. Seriously, being able to shop here regularly is one of the most exciting aspects about my move. I’m in love with the £2 made from scratch spinach pancakes.
Batman Live at the O2: Fun. I think a lot of the reviews I’ve read of this show missed the point. Story schmory. It was good eye candy. Loved the massive LED video wall, loved seeing thrilled little kids dressed up like the caped cruisader, loved turning my brain off for awhile and absorbing a stage performance of one of modern times’ best myths.
M&Ms World: I must admit I was kinda blown away by the sheer scale and vibrancy of this place. As cheesy and corporate as it is, I have a feeling that from time to time I’ll pop in this Leicester Square candyland for future doses of gawking and pop wonder.
More good stuff to come,
Chris
