Strychnin Gallery’s X-MAS LUAU: 11 December 2009 – 31 January 2010
Okay. My shots are printed, framed and shipped. Next stop for ’em is Berlin where they’ll be part of über edgy Strychnin Gallery‘s X-Mas Luau. They’ll be in good company too! Works by Shag (who’s supposedly going to be at the opening – I’ll be there too, woo-hoo!), Brad “Tiki Shark” Parker, Heather Watts and a whole bunch of other fab artists will be exhibited.
The show’s opening on Friday the 11th promises to be a lot fun! So does the after show.
I’m really looking forward to being back in Berlin and to seeing my photography alongside such killer art.

Exclusive Chloe Early Interview (Juxtapoz)
Exclusive Chloe Early Interview
Juxtapoz, Thursday, 12 November 2009

I would never try to improve on the world in my work by creating some kind of painted utopia. But I hope the idea of utopia is there in what I do as equally I’m interested in the idea of dystopia. The best thing about making paintings is there are no rules about gravity or scale. So there is a freedom to represent things in an unexpected way.

Molecular Mixology Cocktails at Hush Brasserie in Mayfair (Londonist)
Molecular Mixology Cocktails at Hush Brasserie in Mayfair
Londonist, November 12, 2009 3:43 PM
… it’s of note to mention the innovative and reasonably priced range of deconstructed and oddly textured cocktails available at Hush Brasserie in secluded Lancashire Court off Brook Street in Mayfair. For £8.50 per cocktail, this swank restaurant/bar offers the opportunity to challenge your preconceptions about what a cocktail’s supposed to be.

A Rum Do Two: Molecular Mixology Evening at Hush with Elements 8 Super Premium Rum
Qype does London, November 12th 2009
Has it been a year already since being introduced “Rum Do” style to Elements 8 super premium rum? Last year’s “do” was a festive crawl around some of Notting Hill’s more stylish bars, sampling a range of inspired rum cocktails. This year, our gracious Elements 8 hosts invited a few imbibing bloggers over to the swish Mayfair restaurant, Hush Brasserie, for a night of molecular mixology.

Pop-Up Shop Review: Marmite Pop-Up Shop on Regents Street
Londonist, November 11, 2009 9:38 PM
Pop-up this, pop-up that. With vacant retail space throughout town and a palpable air of economic uncertainity, there’s a lot of non-committal pop-upping going on. The latest is a pop-up shop dedicated to all things Marmite. Located at …

Cufflinks and Curry at Cinnamon Club
Londonist, November 11, 2009 3:10 PM
On the surface, this seemed like one of the wackier press releases to land in ye olde Londonist inbox in quite some time. An invitation to a “breakfast showcase of the Cinnamon Club jewellery range.” Oh brother. Still, the prospect of an Anglo-Indian brekkie at this famed Westminster resto drew Londonist out for an early morning look see.

Food and Drink Festival Preview: Towards a Fluid State

Don’t call it a farmers market. Coming your way the 5th of December to an undisclosed warehouse in Dalston, Towards a Fluid State promises “an immersive and informative food and drink experience profiling flights of Cognac, whisky, gin, sake and natural and biodynamic wine matched with delicious morsels of food.” After a tipple of a press preview this past weekend, Londonist certainly ambled away feeling all sorts of cheerily immersed.

New Design for London Starbucks Unveiled at Conduit Street Coffeehouse (Londonist)
New Design for London Starbucks Unveiled at Conduit Street Coffeehouse
Londonist, November 6, 2009 1:27 PM
Starbucks revealed a new look today at their Conduit Street location. There was less green – even the logo sign out front was sans vert – and more earthy, woody tones. The mood was certainly easier on the eyes than the standard Starbucks that Londoners have grown accustomed to. The furnishing were comfier, as well. And with long tables, “conversation caves” and an overall more open and airy feel, the Conduit Street re-fit promised better sipping and off-site working.

Cognac Cocktails, a Salvaged Banksy and the No Emissions Peugeot Prototype
Qype does London, November 5th 2009
Starting off with cocktails and canapés in Mayfair and ending with … um … cocktails and canapés near Covent Garden (with a little bit of beer and re-appropriated graffiti viewing in Soho along the way), last night was one of those nights when during a brief pause I took a step outside myself to pat myself on the back for settling down in such a dynamic city.

Lancaster London Hotel Installs Beehives on its Roof
Londonist, November 4, 2009 3:17 PM
Back in July, half a million honey bees checked in at the Lancaster London, making it the first central London hotel to install beehives on its roof. Yesterday, the hotel’s “Bee Team” invited us round to have a taste of their golden yield alongside a few jars of honey from other hives around London and Surrey.

Lastminute.com’s Top 10 London Blogs (Tooting My Own Horn)
Just this morning in a cloud of hazy Monday doubt, I pondered for a moment if anybody even gave a damn about my London Daily Photo series, something I’ve been posting in one form or another since 2006. Well, I guess the folks running the lastminute.com blog reckoned it was worth a look-see now and again. They listed it today as their reason for placing my blog in their top 10 london blogs: our pick of the best. There are a lot of excellent blogs about this town floating around in the blogosphere. Off the top of my head, I can think of several I consider well worth regular perusing (see my sidebar for links). Needless to say, I’m chuffed and incredibly honoured.
Another super-chunky-awesome thing about this top 10 list is the inclusion of Londonist. As Food & Drink Editor for everybody’s favourite multi-contributor blog about the greatest city in the world, I’m stoked for our site as well. Double chuff for me! Thanks Lastminute.com!
The rest of the list offers a brilliant cross section of the best of London’s online community. Here’s the list of lastminute.com’s top 10 London blogs:
– Londonist
– catch a vibe
– Going Underground’s blog (Yay @anniemole!)
– tikichris
– London SE1
– LondonJazz
– The Londoneer
– Tired of London Tired of Life
– LGBT
