Cooking up a Scandilicious Christmas with Norwegian Seafood and Signe Johansen
Here’s a quick mention about a fun cookery session I recently sat in on at rather swank cooking school, Aveqia. Hosted by the Norwegian Seafood Council with London’s own Scandilicious chef Signe Johansen at the helm, it was a tasty opportunity to discover what makes seafood from Norway so special and delicious while dabbling in a bit of Scandi Christmas tradition too. Having a Dickens of a Happy Christmas with Attractiontix
Attractiontix got in touch with “seven of London’s most influential bloggers” to come together and create a special Festive Tube Map “highlighting the most fabulous feasts, seasonal shops and glorious grottos” in London. Twelve Days of Christmas Afternoon Tea at the InterContinental London Park Lane
It’s no secret. I’m a big fan of the fine foodie offerings InterContinental London Park Lane. With Executive Chef Paul Bates calling the palate pleasing shots (not to mention chef Theo Randall doing his own tasty thing with onsite upscale Italian restaurant), I’ve never never even come close to having a less than ideal dining experience here. So an invitation to try the hotel’s limited edition Christmas afternoon tea was one I greedily accepting. This was my second time to enjoy an afternoon tea at the InterContinental and it did not disappoint. If anything, my expectations for a high level of quality and service were exceeded. Barista Skills (espressoCrazy) #illyschool
Recently, I helped organise and host an intimate coffee tasting and training session for a select group of London bloggers. Leading the event was Marco Arrigo – Head of Quality for illy Coffee in the UK – who provided our guests with a hands-on chance to hone their skills making perfect espresso-based drinks, along with a fun and informative ‘beans to cup’ lesson about the history and chemistry of coffee. Marco has trained hundreds of baristas throughout the UK. His course usually takes three days, but he crafted this this one to be a three-hour crash course session especially for bloggers. London Daily Photo: Henry Winkler, OBE
Henry Winkler was in town last night to switch on the Christmas lights at the London Marriott Hotel County Hall. Best known for playing Arthur Fonzarelli on the long run American television series Happy Days, the 68 year old actor is in the UK at the moment promoting and supporting his My Way! campaign to encourage children with learning difficulties. Winkler was made an honorary Officer of the British Empire in September 2011 “for services to children with special educational needs and dyslexia in the UK”. Continue reading
