Sometime this week, Soho’s Clockjack Oven will launch the Clockjack Chicken Burger – a fried chicken thigh burger with a bit of a kick to it. Fine Dining at Quantus in Chiswick, West London (OneTravel)

Another great restaurant to add to my growing list of London’s best is Quantus. Offering an exquisite menu of modern European cuisine with a strong Latin influence and a wine list that’s inspired and rather Latin tinged as well, this local west London fine dining establishment is a great option for foodies foraging around West London in search of excellence. Service at this lovely little Chiswick local is formal and prompt yet exceptionally friendly, and the prices are a huge relief. Continue reading

I Beg Your Pardon? Twinings Has Introduced a Rose Garden?

That’s right. Initially only sold as part of the Twinings Limited Edition range due to popular demand Rose Garden black tea is now permanently available. That’s good news if you’re like me and love the flavour of rose. But don’t take my word alone for it, this tea was one of four Twinings teas to win a 2012 Great Taste Award. Add this to an already fantastic selection that includes eye opening green tea, refreshing redbush and plenty more and it becomes apparent there’s a lot more to Twinings than just elegant Earl Greys and robust English Breakfast teas. London Daily Photo: Lunch with Siba

Lunch today came compliments of South African chef Siba Mtongaga who was in town today to promote her new Food Network UK series, Siba’s Table. Look for the show to premiere on the Food Network UK 23 September and to be aired weekdays at 12.30pm and 6.30pm. Brought to you by the team who created Nigella’s Kitchen and Barefoot Contessa, Siba’s Table is filmed in Cape Town, where the chef creates and serves a range of dishes for her friends and family. I can vouch that much of her food is delish. She makes a mean chakalaka and was a gracious during my meal. Continue reading

A Visit to Jude’s Ice Cream Dairy (Great British Chefs)

Yes, there is a Jude (Judith actually) behind the scenes of this Hampshire-based premium ice cream maker. But the story of her eponymous treats is really about her husband, Theo. Finding himself suddenly and unexpectedly on the other side of a career in banking, Theo had time on his hands along with a bit of capital and a garage in which to tinker. He also had the acumen to realise a huge gap in the British ice cream market and the pluck to go about filling it. Continue reading

Sweet Thursday: De Beauvoir Town Pizzeria Pleases Any Day of the Week

Sweet Thursday is a new(ish) pizzeria and wine shop in De Beauvoir Town. The shop’s unusual name pays homage to a novel by John Steinbeck. Look it up. As far as I’m concerned the Sweet Thursday folks could call their friendly establishment Sour Monday, and I’d still rave about it. The pizzas are proper and the atmosphere ideal for a casual meal any day of the week. Continue reading
